[110] Grandfather Edward Lewis Hyland had a vast sense of humor and would sometimes make believe he held a mouse in his hands while making squealing sounds under his breath which made the ladies jump and squeal in a like manner when he threw the "mouse" at their feet. In his job as a plumber, he would frequently wear a fine suit and a derby style hat. When he got to the jobsite, he would temporarily change into work clothes until his finished his work at which time he changed back into his suit.
[117] After grandfather Edward Lewis Hyland died, his wife Annie Lois and daughter Margaret Hyland Jones purchased an organ in his memory for Trinity Methodist Church (her church growing up). The organ which was dedicated on October 7, 1941 and was used until about a decade ago after a joint service was held at Trinity with a nearby black Methodist congregation. The guest organist played the old organ for all it was worth (and then some) after which it never played the same so it was replaced by Gene Davis of Music and Electronics Inc of Charlotte.
