A Letter from Jesus
Monday, March 31, 2003
(I guess it's time to speak
our faith. We recently got some spam with war pictures - we altered one of
them - and a letter from a Sailor. We paraphrased that letter a bit and
imagined what Jesus might write to us.)
My
Child,
It's
really your decision to follow me if you want to or not. You are the one
who has to decide if what you are doing without me is right or not. My
opinion is not yours. I do, however, have things I would like for you and
your comrades and everyone else to know. I am the Son of God. I was born to
defend all people against the evil one.
People may not agree with the cup
from which I decided to drink. I would like to address those people by
telling them that sinfulness is not only a condition of your enemies, but of
you and every other self-proclaimed innocent country in the world. What
type of Savior would I be if I didn't lay down my life for all people,
regardless of nationality or form of government?
You live in a country where people
have felt security in their daily lives without my protection. They did
business as usual and didn’t worry about the threat of evil assaulting
them. The people of 9-11 thought the same thing. You now know that evil and
sin can assail anyone at any time.
Yet as the most powerful country on
the earth, you are afraid of trusting my way of love to defend your
security. I can only speak for myself when I say that my life is an easy
expense to ensure that all people can live in my peace (not as the world
gives). I strongly believe in what I have accomplished on the cross and
wish you could have been there to see for yourself the honor and privilege
that my disciples felt as they gathered after my resurrection, knowing that
they were a part of a movement so strong and so meaningful to the salvation
of the world.
Then you would know what this
potential war is about. When you make war against evil you cannot see that
it consumes your heart in the process. As my disciple, I invite you to
trust me and not be afraid of what may happen if you follow my Way. Do not
be afraid that others may not understand your allegiance to me. I ask for
your courage as my disciple to allow me to be strong in your weakness; I ask
for your understanding in what I believe is right. I ask for your support
in what I have given my life to accomplish: defending the lives of all
people.
Apart from me, you will never succeed
in your task to be free of the threat of evil in your heart, or in the
world. I have already accomplished that task. Remind yourself of what the
cross stands for: eternal life, forgiveness of sin, and grace for all. In
order to realize those rights you have to give your life entirely to me. I
am proud to have died for you. I will return to take you home, but not
until I know that everyone has had the opportunity to receive my invitation
to new life. My people come first. My world is where they live.
Jesus the Christ
Son of God
Address: In your heart, and at the
right hand of God
